Children and young adults living in poverty and disaster-prone areas lack access to quality education and face several barriers. These children lack the basic school supplies and learning materials they need to learn. There is also a shortage of qualified teachers in Haiti to help children and youth harness the skills they need to improve their lives.
United for Haiti is devoted to providing disadvantaged children with the school supplies they need to achieve their full potential. We believe that every child has a right to quality education.
We strive to improve education in Haiti by distributing school supplies, providing digitization courses, building and renovating schools, providing tuition support, and supporting qualification and allocation.
With about 24% of Haiti’s population living in abject poverty, United for Haiti is determined to provide sustainable solutions to end poverty. Our goal is to bridge the economic gap between poor communities living in rural areas and those living in urban regions.
We strive to end poverty in Haiti by providing quality education, access to better healthcare, clean drinking water, and proper sanitation facilities. Our team aims to equip communities with the necessary tools and resources they need to end poverty for good.
About 6 million people in Haiti live on $2 daily which makes it difficult to afford proper healthcare. United for Haiti is committed to providing quality healthcare to disadvantaged communities in Haiti. We built a healthcare facility in 2020 to provide underprivileged communities with better access to doctors, medicine, and medical equipment.
Our clinic has qualified doctors and nurses who are determined to improve the lives of communities. People no longer have to walk for miles to access healthcare services.
Haiti faces challenges when it comes to accessing renewable energy. While the country has the potential to generate renewable energy, most people rely on fossil fuels imported from other countries. Most communities lack access to electricity and are forced to use unreliable traditional methods to provide lighting.
United for Haiti is devoted to transforming the lives of disadvantaged communities by providing renewable sources of energy. Not only do we supply lighting to communities but also provide employment opportunities through increased demand for labor.
According to World Bank, more than half of Haiti’s population lacks access to clean drinking water while only a third of the same population has access to basic sanitation facilities. Waterborne illnesses such as typhoid, cholera, and diarrhea are responsible for more than half of the deaths in Haiti annually.
United for Haiti is determined to solve Haiti’s water problem using its Water Filtration program. It is through this program that we will help communities access safe drinking water and prevent diseases and deaths in the long run.
We are also determined to educate communities about safe sanitation and hygiene practices and put an end to hygiene-related diseases.
Haiti is one of the countries with the most deforestation. The country has only 1% of its original forest cover. Deforestation is a threat to the ecosystem. This is why United for Haiti strives to conserve the environment through reforestation.
We educate communities about the dangers of deforestation and encourage them to conserve their environment by planting trees. Our Reforestation program is the key to fostering environmental sustainability in communities.
Not only are recreational activities good for physical fitness but also mental health. Participating in group sports or activities also provides a sense of belonging. When communities participate in recreational activities, they interact, connect, and build lasting relationships. This is why United for Haiti is creating a community soccer program. The goal is to unite communities and help young people nurture their talents and skills. Through this program, we will improve the mental health of disadvantaged people.
When communities have access to first-hand information, they can use it for the greater good. This is why United for Haiti runs a radio program to provide communities with crucial information, and a source of entertainment. We believe that communities can use important information to improve the personal, social, and economic aspects of their lives. Our goal is also to improve the mental wellness of Haitians through entertainment.
In January 2022, heavy rains in Haiti caused floods that caused several deaths and destroyed property. Vulnerable communities in Haiti face flooding challenges. Rather than waiting for floods to destroy the homes of disadvantaged Haitians, United for Haitians is committed to preventing these floods. Our goal is to launch a project that involves building a retaining wall along the river to prevent flooding in low-lying areas. We aim to protect communities from the dangers of flooding.
